Stok Festival Silk Mask
Right before the lockdown, we were with our favorite Ladakhi lama, Khensur Rinpoche, for the Stok Village festival. Recalling Stok's colors during this marvelous time in the village, this silk mask evokes the red-robed monks crossing the copper brown mountains and ice-blue sky. The annual festival brings everyone together to clear away obstacles and set the community on the right path. May all be auspicious.
ABOUT OUR MASKS
Each silk mask is one of a kind. Fabric is hand dyed by artist Laura Kozaitis using traditional and modern dying techniques to achieve each signature designs.
Our masks are sewn in Queens, NY by a small group of enterprising women. Each mask provides a woman the opportunity for independence; through fair wages, the ability to work safely from home, while also meeting the challenge of balancing the many roles they fill in this especially dramatic time.
Poets have lauded silk luminous wearability for thousands of years . Ideal for keeping your aerosols to yourself, silk is strong, wrinkle resistant, naturally antimicrobial, and dries quickly.
Wash your mask by hand or toss in the machine on a gentle cycle. Use warm water and a mild detergent. Skip the dryer. Lay flat to dry, iron on medium setting if you like a crisp look. You’ll be ready to fly again in no time.
